i moved my bronze and peppers into another tank untill i set a bigger one up for them as i got a bigger tank yesterday.
iv noteced that my bigest female bronze cory has shortend barbels and the ends of them are white its swiming funny aswell as if it shuffles side to side as it swims like its not useing its tail and its got a red streak going through its tail fin at the bottom of it.
all the other bronze and peppers are fine just this one.

theres been allot of amazon sword plants and hideing places in the tank before i moved them so i havent notest it sooner.
its hardly eating anything now just picks at food for a couple of seconds.
i dont want to loose it as iv had it a wile now and its one ov my faves.

pics of its tail fin it might look brownish on here but it is red

Hi Drewry

Sorry to hear about your bronze. I have lost 2 this week to what i can only attribute to bacterial infection. The two remaining are in hospital tank at present so fingers crossed.

Your symptons dont sound the same as mine though. Are the colours fading at all?

Shortened barbels can be caused by toxins so suggest running water stats.

Cheers

Just a thought, but you say you have recently moved them. Whats the substrate in their new home? is it different from what they were in before? Is there as much water movement and airiation in their new home?

Cheers

Hi drewry:)

I'm sorry to learn about your sick cory. It does sound like an advanced case of bacterial infection.

Since you are in the UK, where antibiotics are not available, try either Waterlife's Myxazin or Interpet's Anti-Finrot and Fungus Medicine. The red streak has me quite worried. It's not a good sign.

Keep the water temperature on the low side and consider adding an airstone to create additional oxygenation during treatment too. This will make the environment less hospitable for the harmful bacteria.

Good luck, drewry. I hope she recovers quickly.

update
second dose of meds went in this morning the red streek in its tale is starting to clear up wilder said it was septicemia.
its still swiming funny but it looks alot better than it did and its seems to be feeding more now so hopefull will make a full recovery :good:

Fingers crossed. I have had recoveries from septicema. It is a form of bacterial infection. But it is often treatable. I don't respond much to requests for medical help for the UK because I just don't know the meds. There are clearly others that do. You probably know more than I do. :)

Hang in there.

just an up date
my bronze corydora has made a full recovery and its barbles are growing back :hyper:
and is back with the others now :good:
