I've seen people cut away the broken brace and then use a piece of acrylic of similar size, and then attached with nylon screws and wingnuts. You could probably use acrylic with a thickness of 1/8th of an inch.

Dont cut anything out.

Get your hands on a piece of thick plastic.

Cut it about 4-5 inches long
Drill 6 holes in it
Use rivets to secure the piece of plastic to the brace bat

Attach the piece of plastic under the brace bar, riveting the plastic
in from the top of the brace bar and out the bottom of the replacement plastic.

Any decent shop that sells tanks can order up a new top frame, this includes an unbroken center brace. To get the top frame off heat it up a bit with a heat gun, and use a razor knife to slice the now warm silicone. Don't worry about breaking the old top frame, you're going to throw it out.

Once it's removed, clean off the rest of the old silicone, dry fit the new top frame to make sure it's the proper size. If it is, add a bead of silicone inside the top frame, push it securely on & let it dry for a day before filling.
