I know Brochis species are not corydoras, but this seemed to be the section where I found threads on this species the most, since they are so closely related.
I saw these at a LFS for pretty cheap and they looked nice, $3.99 a fish. The owner said they were wild caught, but people will say anything. They are about 3 inches long and pretty heavy bodied. They dwarf the Corydora peleatus and aeneus I also have. I was looking for another bottom feeder for my planted 36g, so I said why not? I believe I purchased Brochis splendens, I counted 10-12 rays anyway in it's dorsal, whereas Brochis multiradiatus has 17. Some pictures for confirmation. I have a group of 5.
They are adjusting extremely well to this tank (after a slow acclimation) and are really enjoying the hiding places. I enjoy watching them barrel their way through the tank, a lot less delicate. The store owner regularly gets a lot of catfish and had some of the rarer corydoras in his stock list. He's going to look for some C. pygmeaus for my nano tanks.
Thanks for looking.
