Hi...Can anyone tell me anything about Red Brittle starfish.....we gained it in some live rock we bought .it was considerably smaller then and we thought they were great as clean up crew although we are suspicious of it now...it has grown rather large and our fish seem to be dying off.......we have done all tests on water and all is perfect ..i have just returned home from work to see my blue cheek goby dead in the arms of the red brittle star...i know the green ones will eat fish if not fed sufficiently but dont know much about the red ones..

any help would be really great as if they are known for this...might be a trip to the LFS to get rid of him..........

I have never heard of red ones doing this but this doesnt mean it isnt.

These things are very efficient scavengers and fish like blennies and gobies are prime candidates for being found in bolt holes and then getting trapped by the star.

I personally would get rid of it if you cannot find any other explanation )
