Hi
I was thinking of purchasing a Brittle star for my aquarium. It's a small 3ft tank that contains 1 cleaner shrimp, two percula clowns, blue damsel and a firefish. I would like to purchase a brittle star but would like some advise from anyone who has one. I've been told to stay away from the green stars as they have a reputation for eating fish, is this true? I do like the red stars, anyone have any advice on feeding and looking after one of these? Thanks

i myself would never buy another brittle starfish. I had two green brittle starfish... very aggressive and big. just my thoughts.. they do eat anything that they can latch onto. I fed them small pieces of shrimp, and silversides.

Have a red brittle star in my 35 gallon, have had it for a little over a year, and have never had a problem with it. Even though I did lose a fish in my tank, and before I could pull the dead fish out, he consumed it. They tend to grow fairly fast as well.

I've read about the green stars ambushing fish and told not to get on of these as I only have a small tank. The red brittle stars sound a lot more placid but how big do they get? More only concern really is the fish I have in the aquarium are still very small and I don't want them to become a meal for anyone!
