I havent thought about this too much yet so it may be a ridiculous idea, and even illegal like catching/keeping freshwater fish.

But just an idea, so does anyone have any comments on the feasibilty and legality of keeping a UK saltwater tank.

My first concern would be that all the ones you see in the UK Aquariums tend to be very big, as most saltwater fish here are fairly big, unlike the small tropicals and reef fish.

Any comments much appreciated...

Cheers

A chiller unit would be a must, especially in the summer months but it could be done. I have considered this myself as i often catch small ballan wrass and blennies while fishing from the pier and think they would look great in a tank. As long as you matched your tankwater to the SG of the water where you collected the fish and transported them home quickly i cant see any problems.

Locals marines can be kept. I used ot keep mostly Shannys but also had a weaver fish and a squat lobster. NOt as colourful as reef fish of course but they certainly have character. they are free, and are quite used to varying water perameters due to most of them living in rock pool environments (which change constantly)

What kind of blennies do you have in the water there?
