Noticed they were acting a bit strange the other night and it turns out they bred in one of my bamboo caves but a load of eggs got kicked out so I put them in a breeding trap.Sadly the rest must have got kicked out at some point too but I was not there to save them. Now the female has laid another clutch in the other bamboo cave but one or 2 have been kicked out and im not holding out too much hope for the rest but they have done ok for a first try and at least I have 25-30 in the breeding trap, fingers crossed they hatch.

Heres pics!

The ones I saved yesterday.

I hope they hatch too :D . My BN's had babies a couple of months ago and the first I noticed was tiny babies I never saw the eggs. They are so cute when they are tiny.

Good luck.

Very good piccies - well done ! and good luck :good:

One of the best parts of breeding bn is you do not have to do much- leave the eggs in the cave with the dad and he will do a much better job of hatching and tending than we fishkeepers can. Hatching them yourself will prove to be much more difficult.

If you have them in a community tank where the babies will be eaten when dad lets them out, pull the cave (dad can come along) to another tank to grow out when you see the eggs sacs have been absorbed.

Sorry for the poor pic-

Well the only fish I would be worried about are my SAE`s do you think they would eat the bristle fry? Also about how long does it take for the eggs to get to free swimming stage?

I can't wait until my bn's are adults, I hope I have a male and a female, it looks like I do so far but they are to small to tell for sure, it could be a late developing male.
