What substrate do Bristlenose plecs prefer? I have just had to move mine from gravel to sand due to water problems. Will he be ok in there - long term or short term?

yep he'll be find long term, i have 3 in a planted tank with sand substrate

The BNs will actually prefer sand. It reduces the risk of them damaging their mouths etc on the substrate and mine also love to fan sand and make a big pit sometimes can't imagine mine being in a planted tank without uprooting them
