Bristlenose Pleco Feeding Advice Needed Please

Just got my first small Bristlenose Pleco ever yesterday. Some of my plants have brown algae on them and I was thrilled to see him start cleaning them up. I was wondering if I could wait until he eats the algae off the plants before I start feeding him? I bought some Hikari algae wafers and plan to feed zucchini (courgette). Also how often do I feed him? Thanks!

I feed mine based on the look of his belly. When it looks flat, a piece of zucchini goes in. Maybe once or twice a week.

Don't they need wood available to have proper digestion?
