hi

just purchase a bristlenose plec.

i have read upon them and know they eat algea but also need more in there diet. i currently feed the tank with flakes every day, cucumber slice once a week and blood worms twice a week. other dudes in the tank are neons and guppy's

should i be feeding the plec more or less. does the above sound ok??

thanks

Bristlenose plecs do indeed eat algae, but they also require at least an equal amount of meat in their diet.

The foods that you are giving are all ideal, just be sure that some of it gets to the bristlie before it's all eaten. The best way to do this is add some bloodworm after lights out.

It also might be an idea to get some sort of sinking catfish wafers/pellets too.

If there isn't much algae in the tank, you'll need some algae wafers for the plec to supplement its diet.

thanks guys for the replies.

there isnt much algea in the tank really so just gonna pop out to buy some wafers.

how long should the wafers and cucumber stay in the tank for. also how often should i drop a wafer in

I generally do 2 or 3 a day for my sailfin but he's much bigger than your BN will be so 1 will probably be fine even when full grown.

No problem, don't forget SirMinion's advice about the bloodworm after lights out aswell, its a good tip. :)
