Bristlenose Plec

Just a quick question for future reference.

A bristlenose plec only grows to about 12cm, right?

What's the smallest tank you would put a single fish, or a pair in. I've heard that a pair will breed quite easily, how do you tell them apart?

There are different specis of ancistrus - the most common being ancistrus sp. 3 (the "common bristlenose"). Sie varies between species from 2" up to 9" I think. Ancistrus sp. 3 grows to about 5-6", and would need a 30g tank, probably a bit more if you were planning on breeding them
