I've been looking around for brisslenoses for a while now and when I was in my local pets at home today I finally found some but they were covered in white spots and I know white spots can mean ich, so I didint buy one, and because bristlenoses have white spots in there pattern how can you tell the diffrence? as all the tetras in the tank looked healty and only the 2 plecs had spots any advice would be helpful thanks.

Did they look like little grains of salt? Ich is very distinctive. There is no way it could be mistaken for natural patterning - Google it and see what I mean.

Also if you can avoid that shop and try an independent or a branch of MA I really would - I have seen common plecs labelled as bristlenoses in there before, more than once and at several branches! BNs shouldn't be hard to find.
