I have 1 Bristlenose Plec in a 29 gal with other peaceful community fish. Recently I added 3 pygmy corys, and have noticed my plec is much more active during the day - even "chasing" the corys. Is this normal? Does the plec feel the corys are invading his space?

Thanks,
Angel

Do you have wood and cave retreats? If you have one or none the plec could chase the cories because of that.

I am not sure though as I do not have any bristlenoses but I think most if not all plecs like to have wood or a cave to hide under during the daytime.

HTH until someone else can chip in.

Yes, there are several pieces of driftwood and lots of live plants for hiding in, under and around. He seems to enjoy the chase rather than hiding lately.

:dunno: maybe he likes that tyhere is someone else at his level. I would maybe be worried that he could hurt the cories as pygmies are especially ickle.

I would just keep an eye on it for now.

HTH
