I have seen lots of information about using pvc pipe as a home/breeding place for bristlenose. My question if someone could be so kind- is the pipe left open ended, or do you need to block one end. Thanks in advance.

I think one blocked end would make him prefer more but I think BN's prefer driftwood to make there homes in.
 
It doesn't make any difference, closed end pipes are usually only necessary for breeding purposes...simply because there is less chance of eggs being kicked out.

As to the them preferring wood, it isn't correct or necessary, they will use/enjoy/like anything which gives them shelter, material used really doesn't have anything to do with it
