Today I noticed that I have approx 30 eggs stuck to the side of the tank and the male is guarding them well. Two of the eggs have been destroyed in the last hour and I believe that the male Bn did this. I am concerned that my filter has packed up because the current seems slower than usual and I have an oily film on the surface of the water. I want to do a water change, but the eggs are quite high on the tank side and I don't want to disturb them. Any advise?

Now thats a tough one. I wouldnt reccomend lowering the tank water too much, make sure the eggs remain covered at all times. I would suggest talking out as much water as you can get away with every 6 hours or so, until you feel you have changed enough. I know its a bit long winded but thats all I can think of :( Losing the odd egg is normal, males tend to kick them out from time to time even if they are in a cave.
