Bristlenose Catfish

Do you know the scientific name for your bristlenose catfish?

I think mine is a Ancistrus temmincki.

Tell me your bns scientisfic name.

Or i think mine is a Anicistrus dolichopterus.

Ancritus temminckia and Ancritus dolichopterus is the closest i could get.

Have you had a look at the images match to see if your on looks like that.

yes mine are the two sated above got two tremawawawawa ones and one dremaamama ones

typed the two names into google

found that all the pictures on one looked like my ugly one and the other two looked like the other one i typed in

if that made sense

I'm willing to say they wont be ancistrus temmincki - they are very rarely imported.

Common Bristle nose - Ancistrus Sp.3 - now know as Ancistrus cf. cirrhosus

If you picked it up at a local fish store - it is also very unlikely to be dolichopterus... I spent approx 3 years looking for some and in the end had to get them imported "to order" with a geoup of other interested keepers via a very helpful shop.

Well i got mine from maidenhead aquatics in hillingdon so i don't konw what species mine is now.

The ones you posted a pic of are too dark and their skin is different.

I have trouble taking pics of it.

I am going to take it out on saturday and put it into a bucket and i'll take a pic of him ok.

use a pyrex bowl - float it in the tank for a while to allow the plec to de- stress

that way you'll be able to get good pics from most angles and without stress colouration

I have a small tank I use for photos - but normally a pyrex dish is easiest
