Hi all, i was setting up another tank, and putting more decorations in such as a rock that i THOUGHT hadnt been used for ages.

I lifted it up and saw a male bristlenose and his eggs!

I was wondering what do i do with the eggs? since there are other fish in the tank.

I was considering moving the rock, eggs and father to another tank for them to hatch.

Whats your recommendation?

Hi P1ngu,

If you want a good fry survival rate move the eggs if not some may survive but a lot will get eaten. Mine bred in my 5 foot tank which has loaches in it i have seen 4 fry that are about and inch long so some made it. Mr Bristlie is sitting on another batch of wigglers but as they are in a huge lump of wood i can't really move it at the minute so they will have to take their chances.

I hope they make it because 3 of them are albino and the parents are just the natural brown colour. If this batch doesn't make it they usually breed every 4-6 weeks anyway so you may have better luck with another batch.

Hope this helps,

Emma

leave them be and take your chances... or after there have hatched catch them up and put them in a small tank and feed them on baby food and cucumber and wafers..

i have just purchased a pair of bristlenoses and i am hoping mine will breed

mine bred twice (the last time was quite a while ago). i only got one from the first batch, so the second time i decided to move them out. they were in a pvc pipe with dad, so i just moved the whole pipe over and then when dad and the wrigglers were out i moved dad and the pipe back to their original location. problem is, they haven't bred since. the female comes by every so often, but dad has not interest now. i'm wondering if it's because i disturbed his home before...i don't know, but just keep that in mind and maybe see if you can get the wrigglers out without disturbing his home. just my two cents
