Bristle Nose Pleco's

i have a 40uk gallons/48us gallons mbuna tank with 12 fish in.

the tank is 46x15x16 deep.

its has an eheim pro 2224 for the filter

it also has 6 under gravel jets (UGJ) producing around 2000lph

the tank has a large stack of slate along the back wall of the tank (picture in my sig. about two thirds of the way down)


would a birstlenose be ok with the flow?

how many should i put in the tank? im thinking of 2

is it important if i get 2 males? or should i try and get 1 male and 1 female?

should be ok - does food rest on the bottom ?

If not feeding will be a problem.

I have that filter. It won't be an issue, honestly.

Getting food to the bottom will be the issue. You might have to hook up a quick on/off switch, if you can't food to the bottom.

I have mine hooked to the center of the tank, so I always have some calm water for feeding.

thanks for the responses. only a little food rests on the floor.

when i feed cuccumber i normally tie it down. and i beleive plecs love cuccumber?

what else should i feed them? other than algea wafers? i carnt feed them bloodworn etc


i can turn the pump of no problem as ive put proper sockets in the cabinet.

would i be best with 2 plecs or dont it matter?

i have a tank with a trio of bn in and the tank turn over is 20 times an hour and they love it spawn after spawn after spawn and water quality is really good just raise water flow off bottom and nearer to top that way all crap will still get filtered

i carnt

the jets are made out of rigid pvc pipe and are buried under the gravel. they are also glued so cannot be moved/adjusted.
