hey guys ive had a pair of breeding bristle noses for over 2 years now they,re amazing fish:) they currently have 50+ fry :) i have noticed a huge difference in the growth rates of the fry is this normal? thought it could be different spawnings? also thought it could be somthing to do with food? i feed them a very varied diet of letuce ,pumpkin, zukini, shrimp pellets and aglue waffers. all of which gets devoured.

any thoughts on what could cause this growth rate diff or other foods i could be feeding would be greatly apreciated ill try and link a vid of them feeding note this was taken like 3 weeks ago sooo... but growth rate diff can still be seen :)
ps soz about bad focus it was taken on my digital camera :p

kind regards liam m

I guess they are like humans; some grow quicker than the others; some are naturally bigger (my friend is female and say 5 foot 9; however her older brother is ny on 5 foot lol - same parental genetics majorly different outcome)

no,- link's not working!

I have breeding longfin bn's. there are various sizes of juveniles,- but that's because there are several batches of babies in there. They breed non-stop so there's always new additions in the tank! Could be the same with you. I've never had 50 fry survive from one single batch!

Hi, the link does work if you copy and paste it into the address bar but doesn't if you try to click on it, you have some lovely healthy fish there :good: I've bred my bristlenoses for the first time this year too and the fry are also different sizes but I know they are two different spawns with one batch around 3 weeks behind but even from the same spawn they can grow at different rates, it's great you have some albinos there I want albinos but have yet to breed any both the adults I have are brown is your male albino or is he brown as well as I could only see the female in the vid, what size tank have you bred them in? my pair bred in a 100l tank but I have now got them seperated to find homes for my fry as otherwise they'll keep going! I have also seperated 20 or so of the larger fry from the breeding tank to grow on.

the male is really weird his body changes colour! his head is always black with white spots but when hes been in his cave for a while hes body goes yellow?? when he comes out and starts eating he goes blotchy black brown white its really cool hes super shy can never get pic or vid of him slightest movement he takes off:( as for the tank size its 2 foot so its 60-70 litres its kinda small i know to house them and there fry but i keep up with maintance weekly waterchanges and a good filter keeps it sparkling :) as for the albinos i have 10 of them which i wasnt to happy about as a dislike albino fish with a passion! quick visit to the pet shop changed that when i found out they were double the price of the regular BN :p any ways the pet shop sells lots of diff versions of BNs pepper mint, albino, orange, brown , i think i have them all in fairly equall amounts however there seems to be more pure black ones with white spots than the other colour morph :) how big should i let them get before i offer them to the petshop?? and how mutch are they worth ruffly i have a few places i can offer them to so...

any help or comments will be grand ps ill try to take another vid fingers crossed ill get the male out and about this time:)

kind regards liam m

I sell mine to my lfs at 1". Some lfs wont buy them others will only give you store credit but some do buy them. I get £1.80 each for mine but ive heard that a really good price anything between 50p-£1.50 is normal.
