Hi all,

I am currently based in England and looking to start up a little brine shrimp facility so I can feed my fish. (I like to vary their diet between, flakes, pellets, blood worm etc)

Does anyone know where (or what website) I can go to??

Also I have found lots of info on 'sea monkeys' which are a form of brine shrimp-has anyone tried feeding these to their fish?? Are they safe??? Even worth a try??

Many thanks

Emma

hi you can buy a brine shrimp hatchery from ebay with everything you need to get started including instructions on how to set it all going dont know about see monkeys i culture my own worms aswell also from ebay white worms, micro worms and grindal worms

Dont breed them their too slow and not enought numbers.

Just buy the eggs off ebay or something and hatch them. it's easy and al fish love them.
I just use a old milk bottle to hatch mine in, you dont need to much stuff, just a good air pump.

a 2 ltr plastic bottle a handful of aquarium salt
and air line and fine air stone and place on a window sill
bingo 24 to 48 hrs later brine shrimp i used to feed them on a bit by
rubbing fish food til it was real fine powder and putting just a pinch
in every other day for two weeks they used to grow quite big and my
fish used to love them and so did the fry

Another way to produce brine shrimp that works is to use a hatch n feeder. I do not know if they are available in the UK but lots of people sell them in the US. This has a picture of one.
The essence of the feeder is that the BBS find their way into the tank shortly after they hatch. I can tell you it is funny to watch a tank full of fry hovering around the screen where the shrimp swim into the open tank.

I just got a picture of my hatch n feeder in use on a black chin tank. Guess where the BBS come out into the tank.
