Hi everyone, so I need a little advice my Betta has decided he doesn’t like daphnia anymore and I can’t get hold of mosquito larvae this time of year in the uk. I have bought some Brine shrimp and eggs and would like to breed them if possible. I have set up a 20 L tank with an airline and a heater, the temp is set to 22°C I’ve done one rounded tablespoon of aquarium salt per litre and added a small amount of spirulina powder. I don’t have a filter in the tank and I’m not concerned about doing frequent water changes can anybody give me some advice as to whether this set up will work or some pointers as to what I should be doing. All advice is much appreciated

The following link has information about culturing live food for baby fish but includes a section on hatching brineshrimp eggs. Once you have the newly hatched brineshrimp, put them in some salt water (same strength as sea water) and feed them on algae or yeast. Algae is cleaner.

I would not use aquarium salt. I would use sea salt instead. Sea salt will have all the trace nutrient brine shrimp will need to grow and reproduce. I have looked at aquarium salt but many times you don't know what is exactly in the salt. If the salt if just sodium chloride it will not have everything the brine shrimp will need for reproduction and growth.
