Hi guys!....I have now [hopefully] taken control of my green hair algae and my coraline algae is starting to spread a lot better [some patches are dark red?] but I now have on 1 piece of rock, with what looks like a white residue patch on it. A similar looking effect to coraline algae only this is bright white.

Any ideas guys what it is, and if its good or bad?

I will upload a pic of it later this evening!

dead coraline probably. it goes bright white if that area of rock has dried out or been in really shaded areas and got no light

Cheers mate. I hope it is that but the rock is the highest piece directly under the light but it has been removed from the tank a couple of times in the past 2 weeks to be scrubbed and I'm pretty sure there was coraline on there before.
I'm surprised I noticed it to be honest as I've been working on my trops all day.

Will upload a pic in a bit if I can get a good shot of it.

I'd definitely say some dead coralline. Give you an example. Got some growing on my glass....everything above the water line of the water change is bleach white.....It's not unsubmerged for more than a few minutes, definitely not dry....but definitely dead. No worries though, keep that rock in the water now that you got your algae under control and it'll be covered up with new stuff in no time.

Cheers mate. Guess I'll just ignore it then. It's slowly starting to turn green/ purple.
