hi guys so i think ive decided to go with Brevis now, i have a 63ltr tank so not massive can you advise on some tank mates, ideally need an algae eater and some ditherfish? is it possible to have any other cichlids in with them?

this is what i read on another site do you think any of them will be suitable?

Cyprichromis spp.
These fish are small and peaceful and will not bother shell dwellers since the Cyprichromis school (and even breed!!!) in the upper levels of the tank. The shell dwellers are only concerned with the bottom of the tank.

Altolamprologus sp.
Sumbu dwarf: This is like a miniature shell dwelling A. compressiceps. You get all the enjoyment of having Altolamprologus with your tiny shell dweller without the possibility of it one day trying to eat him. This species rarely exceeds 3" and is somewhat docile. But be warned he's still an Altolamprologus so don't expect to see the Brevis fry if you don't remove them. Just like their larger congeners, THEY LOVE FRY!!!!!!!

Julidochromis Transcriptus
This is the smallest of the Julidochromis species only reaching 2½" / 5-6 cm. They make good tank mates for Brevis.

Neolamprologus cylindricus
This is one of the more peaceful of the larger Neolamprologines.

any help appreicated would like some nice colours too, am i asking too much? lol

Hi, think the tank size will be a bit tight for what you're looking for.
Cyprichromis , if it was Leptosoma or similiar are generally a shoaling fish and require lots of open swiming space.
Neolamprologus cylindricus , as you have probably read Doresy's link you will now know that this is a no nonsense mean fish.
Julidochromis Transcriptus , http://www.aquariumlife.net/profiles/african-cichlids/masked-julie/100103.asp , also have a ,look at Gombi , interesting fish, don't know about tank size...
Altolamprologus , if it is the "compressed cichlid" you were looking at , most of the websites recommend minimum 20 gal for juvis , also need lots of rockwork.
Sorry, not trying to p**s on your parade, just trying to save you some heartache later on.
I said pants by the way lol
Check out this link http://www.worldcichlids.com/fishprofiles/Neolbrevis.html
Good luck :good:

For that size tank I would leave the brevis in there alone. They will need room to grow as a colony. The tank is too small for cyps. In a larger tank it would be fine to keep cyps w/ shellies. The altos will eat any fry. The julies will also eat the fry. Even the adults may be killed by the julies. The neolamp you mentioned will eat the adults if it catches them.
