So I released my female from her bottle into the breeding tank with my male this morning as she was showing her vertical lines and the male had built a large bubble nest.
The female swims up to the nest, then quickly swims away...
They did one practice wrap about an hour ago. The male is still adding to his nest, and the female still has her vertical lines.
Is there a reason why she keeps swimming away from the male?
They both flare at each other, but I think the male keeps frightening her off..
Is there anything I could do?

My female seems very interested in the male, but she just keeps swimming away! :X

Give them time i assume they are first timers lol it was the same with my two but after an hour of being together they bred and it took 3 hours to finish

Where / are they conditiond properly 2week with meaty foods and peas?

They were conditioned for 2 weeks on brine shrimp, bloodworms and peas :)

Update:
Both male and female have a small split in their anal fins..

brine shrimp? like live? or frozen? n i've never had this problem, but when the fmeale is ready, she will go to him and do it. i just suggest you wait it out.

Both live and frozen brine shrimp.
Okay, I'll keep and eye on them, make sure they don't shred each others fins :grr:

hmm... i really do not get the concept of live brine shrimp in the tank, how do they eat them? they're like sooo tinyyy, do they filter feed? and part of the courtship of the bettas may shred their fins, but with good care they will grow back.

I fed them mainly frozen brine shrimp, but a few times they got fed live shrimp. I prefer frozen brine shrimp, but I got the live one from my lfs. I fed them to my bettas one at a time, but they prefered the frozen. I bought the live one for my other fry which are quite big now, but like I said I prefer frozen and probably wont buy the live ones again for my bettas.
