Hello all. I have been breeding fish for some time now (oscars, kribensis, convicts) and have always loved plecs of the L variety. Have kept a gold nugget L81 and Blue Phantom in my breeding tanks for some time now bout 2 years. Have decided to give the breeding side of things over to plecs now and fancy either adding to my blue phantom (seemingly impossible spawning) or nugget. I am fairly anal about water parameters and general maintenace so care is assured. Once I have mastered a couple of good spawnings I hope to create a zebra breeding program, not to fussed about there price as my turn over of kribs, convicts and oscars will pretty much cover a nice harim of zebras. But for starters I understand the blue phantoms are fairly impossible to breed, but I have found little information on the gold nuggets of all three variations or the 4th if being really picky. Any advice in this matter would be much appreciated as i have a few tanks cycled for my first plec breeding project. Thanks in advance!

Just to clarify I mean information on breeding for the and gold nugget. Not general habitat information. cheers

Some plecs, like bristles, are easy- just add water and caves. Others, like zebras are not so easy and require dry and rainy season simulation. Dry season also means not so clean water for a while.

You might want to pop into the chatroom at http://www.fishaholics.org/ there are a number of experienced pleco folks usually there. They are most busy later at night EST.
