as above what is needed to breed neons and glow lights

im not realy intending to and the eggs will probably be eaten by my plec but i was wondering what is needed to breed them

my tank is 25C 60 liter 10 of each species and lots of live plants,
has a few snails and sand as the substrate are they likely to breed

It's possible that they might spawn, but you certainly would lose any eggs; the tetras themselves normally eat them as soon as they've laid them.

If you did want to breed them you need tanks with very thick clumps of fine leafed plants or spawning mops; or some people use marbles to cover the bottom of the tank so the eggs fall through the gaps where the fish can't get to them. You also need very tiny first foods; I think even microworms are too big for tetra fry. I'm sure that neon eggs need darkness to hatch out too, but not totally sure if that's just some old fashioned thing that I've remembered!

check out the sticky for this sub-forum. It's all about breeding egg-scatterers (that's what tetras are). I used that method for zebra danios and it worked perfectly.

ok well i dont think they will survive if they did spawn even if they hatched the filter would probably suck them up and do snails eat eggs?

Correct a normal filter would suck up the fry. However, a sponge filter would work nicely and not suck up the fry. I don't know how difficult tetra fry would be to raise, but i know zebra danio fry were really really easy. I probably had about 30 fry survive, and i didn't condition my adults as well as i would have liked.

In your tank right now the eggs probably wont survive. If they do, the fry will probably not survive. If you were curious to raising some baby tetras i would really do what the suggestions for breeding egg-scatterers are on this forum.
