okay i have a tank (10g i think) to start a cory breeding tank. im thinking of putting the cories in and removing them after they have laid the eggs. what do i need while i wait for the cory to lay the eggs. what type of filter will i need. do i need to put in substrate, i know when the eggs hatch a barebottom tank is easier to clean, but when the fish are laying them does it need substrate. :/

thanks...

i use straight bear bottom ten gal tanks for my cory breeding with a simple sponge filter and floating spawning mops. i find alot of species of corys tend to use the mop for hiding their eggs in and it helps to prevent them from eating them then when they are out in the open or even the metal hanging thermometers that inchworm swears by for the pandas.

what kind of corys are you planning on spawning?

Looks like he is going to spawn some peppered corys (in his sig) but I want to spawn my Trilineatus some time soon...

yeah im intending on spawning peppered. so what is floating spawing mops?? will they have this in Australia? thanks for the reply.

paleatus actually won't need the mops as they spawn right on the glass... but for some other species, if you get them you can build your own by using a simple cork and some yarn.. check the link below... the only thing they don'tshow is tying on the cork

and i kind of figured it may be paleatus Captain Retardo... just through me off with the comment on the starting a cory species tank. since all tanks need corys.. might as well get more for the new tank instead of taking the ones from the other tank... ;)
