I have a aquarium cover that is not being used and was wondering if I could use it as a breeding slate for my angelfish? My main concern is if the plastic can be toxic towards the fish.

I have never thought about it but I guess it would be ok. If it's for aquariums I would think it would be safe. Why not get a couple pieces of slate rock tho? It would look a lot better too.

Its from a 10 gallon fish aquarium. Im not too worried about the attractivenss of the slate. Would the slate rock give off particles raising the hardness?

I buy mine from the lfs and have never had any problems with it. It would be more natural for your Angelfish also and they might not even use anything clear like plastic. Not exactly sure, as like I said I never even thought about using it before, but that's just what I would think.
