Breeding Size?

I just got a new SD male that I would like to breed but he seems young, hes small (about 2") and skinny (underfed) but has a long body, do you think hes big enough to breed? or should I wait for awhile??

Im not positive on this, but i think bettas are ready to breed at between 3 and 4 months of age. BUT, it is some what important that your male and female pair are relativly the same size.
