ive been thinking about breeding them in a 60 litre.. .i have 9 .... 4 females and 5males. how easy r they 2 breed? any tips?
Greetings. I am currently breeding
C. pygmaeus which spawn at the drop of a hat and once they start they hardly ever stop. They require nothing out of the ordinary for spawning Corys. Yesterday I found eggs for the first time from my
C. habrosus, which, by the way is the 60th specie of Cory that I have spawned.
I keep all of my Corys in the same fashion. A 10 USG tank, sand substrate, 2 sponge filters and java moss as a spawning medium. I do not employ spawning mops. Water temp is 76º, pH 7.4 and medium hardness. The
C. pygmaeus are in a group of 8, 3 of them, very large females. Their eggs are laid anywhere and everywhere, but mainly in the moss. The
C. habrosus were in a group of about 35 and all the eggs were laid in one corner of the tank and none in the moss. There are at least 8 more bulging females, so I am hoping for more eggs - and lots of them.
In about an hour I will have 200
C. hastatus arriving at my door, a fish that has been very hard to find, as have been the
C. habrosus, lately. I'm hoping to get them going as well.
I hope this helps. - Frank
