I have 6 platties in one of my tanks, and they have been in there for awhile and still havent bred. I used to have a tank full of mollies and I have had the same problem. The temperature is fine, water conditions are ok and I have the right amount of males to females. Does anyone else have this problem?

You may not have compatible fish, or perhaps some of them aren't fertile. A lot of livebearers today aren't fertile, either due to the way they are raised, or just their inbreeding and mass production. That's why it's best to buy a pregnant female from the store, if you plan to breed.

I have run into this problem too - I had a platy male who never ever chased the females, and they never got pregnant. Now, I have added another male who never leaves them alone, is constantly trying to breed, and has been successful several times.

what are the parameters, temp and how long have they been together? Is there any sign of mating activity at all? How many males in the tank and do they bother each other? Is there plants or hiding places in the tank and are there any other fish in the tank? A lot off questions but I know this is a concern for you as i followed the postings on the mollies so lets try to get you some fry. :)
