Hi everyone.

I am wanting to try my hand at breeding some non live bearer fish and im looking for ideas

I have a Juwel Rio 240 for this project and I have a 55litre cube and I may buy another tank more suitable if needed for a grow out tank etc.

Stats.

I have relatively hard water apparently. I dont know for sure or the ratings etc.

but the ammonia nitrate nitrite are steady I cant remember what the PH is off the top of my head but will test and update asap

just looking for suggestions

im going to try breed pearl gourami's in a few months time, just a suggestion for yourself too :)

Before breeding anything, consider how and where you are going to rehome the fry. If you are considering your LFS, tell them beforehand what you are planning to breed, and ask if they are interested in taking the fry.

Now, suggestions:- If you have hard water (and the chances are that you have a high pH as well), then Malawi cichlids would be an option. A slightly less common option, too, would be Tanganyikan shelldwellers.

If that didn't float your boat, the Kribensis are easy-peasy, or you could try new world cichlids, some are easier than others.
