I was going to post this in the hardware section, but as I'm going out today to purchase one of these, I may not get an answer in time... ;)

Anyway, my last batch of baby platys all got eaten (I'm not surprised, just would like to keep some) even though I have a lot of plants for them to hide in.

I'd like to buy a floating trap/net to put the female in when the time is right - can anyone make any recommendations?

I don't have a 2nd tank and I don't have room for one!

I haven't gotten to use mine yet, but the people here at the forum said that they use similar kinds when I asked if it was a good kind. They said that they are the best kind to get. I got it at Wal-Mart for US$3, but I'm sure they have them other places too...in fact, I know they do. ;)

Here is a picture of the box, and two pictures of the net in the tank.

Thanks for that but my tank doesn't have a rim- it has a part solid glass/part glass sliding doors condensation lid under the wooden lid so I ended up buying one of the floating plastic variety.

Now all I've got to do is work out how to tell when a platy is about to give birth or scoop up the fry with a net and put them in... -_-

Make sure there's enough oxygen float inside the plastic trap coz it's the drawback (insufficient circulation) when comparing to a net. I'll suggest u to do water change by scooping water out from the trap n let the tank water go through the trap.

Personally, I'd pop an air-stone in that, just to be sure, or even a little sponge filter.

Good ideas guys - the natural circulation of the tank has taken it into the path of the bubbles from my powerhead anyway.
