I have HM geno fish. Is there anything special I need to do to get a HM out of my spawn? Sorry if this sounds like a stupid question, but I heard it was more conditions and not genetics that make HMs.

Both parents need HM geno, of course. Otherwise it is basically water quality. I've heard that if betta fry ever get velvet, you will have no half moons. When they're jarred if you miss a day of water changes you lose the HM and can never get it back quite the same etc. Just keep your water clean and keep them well fed and practice their carding exercises and you might get a bunch

Very interesting wuv. Also what do you mean by carding?
When two fish are kept in containers close together, a card or sheet of paper is placed between them so they can't see one-another all the time. Every now and then, though, it's good to remove the card for a little while so they can flare and exercise

Thanks :D

I haven't had any trouble with my males seeing one another 24/7, though I do have a bit of plant in the way so it isn't constant. After a few days they seem to get used to it, and rather enjoy it. I often find them just hanging out around eachother, sunbathing :p

*shrug* Guess it is hard anyhow, with divided 10 gals.

Male when look at male, they more aggressive and want to fight. But when see a female, the male just OLALA!!!! So that is the different. :)
All you just need the tupperware 4 gallon and you will be real fine. :) They been talk a lot about beanie bean box that not really helpful. I can tells you from my experience is that they work some for only three weeks. Then they need bigger space to swim and that is why i recommended 4 gallon tupperware. The recent blue line are doing great in tupperware. :)

Huh... How long do you have to keep up on the extra clean water before they're a HM and will stay a HM?
....Until they are HM :p
I'm pretty sure the fin spread can't just magically shrink

Bingo! I think it is over 4 gallons. :)
Here is the picture. I love tupperware.:)
Oh yes, After stretch to halfmoon from juvenile, they will stay halfmoon by the way. The tail will getting bigger and longer. Some will become over halfmoon. that is why you need more room for them to swim rather seat in the beanie box. :)
