hi- can any body tell if breeding guppies is easy if so how many males to a female and how often do they breed and how live do they have cheers for anybodys help

Breeding Guppies is VERY easy. Just need water and food. :p

The best ratio is about 2-3 females per male. This prevents the male from picking on one female too much, and stressing her out. They will breed about once a month, and have babies once a month. If the last question is how long do they live...unfortuantly, not very long, due to inbreeding. Maybe 1-2 years, max. :( Long-tails Guppies may not even live that long, so look for shorter tailed males. And the less fancy they look, the hardier they will be.

One other thing to think about when breeding Guppies, is they have a lot of fry, often. All the fry need homes, and it's easy to be quickly over-run with them. So just have a plan, because you could easily have hundreds of fry in a couple months. :)

Edit: And in the future, you might want to put this in the Livebearer section.

thank you for the imf :byebye: ormation

1 male per 2 female will give u a crazy amount of guppy inside any tank. Eventurally you will want to toss some away when population hit critical mass :).

Toss some away? Toss them where...?

That's why I was mentioning, before you breed, you need to have homes ready, and have this all planned out. Most fish stores will take Guppies...but you should check before you breed. :)

:) its either fish store or other tank. But if fish store wouldn't take them then I guess u might wand up giving them or sell them away ur self.

make sure you have homes for any babies if you get a trio of guppies.they breed like rabbits!

Breeding guppies is easy for some people, and a pain in the neck for others. I have problems with the little buggers and actually have a much easier time breeding cichlids.

what are cichlids have you a picture and how easy are they to breed

Cichlids are a type of fish, there are a lot of species. I think breeding Angels are pretty easy though.

I've always had guppies and I find that the adults and the other fish in the tank eat the babies, only leaving a handful to survive (thats if I take them out quick enough). So I wouldn't worry to much about too many babies, as long as you have some fish that will thin the population out a bit.
