I have a juvie fiemouth. I think its male coz its got pointed fins but it might be female coz its colouring is pale.

1. How do I find out its sex?

2. How do i breed them?

3. Do i need to get a whole group of them and let 2 pair off?

4. Do i have to get rid of my black ghost and plec?

1) sexing firemouths is diffiult when they're not breeding. The only way you can dertermine their sex is by looking at their breeding organ (forgot the exact name, genitila papila or something like that).

2) Firemouths are excellent parents, so the only work you need to do is condition them

3) Yes, that would be the best way to do it

4)I doubt you would HAVE to get rid of those 2 fish, but they may cuase some problems

make sure you buy fish that are a similar size

what type of substrate do you have?

its natural gravel and this one is preety fine. not big peices.

my lfs has 1 that i no of that was in the same "batch" so i'll get him/her. Then i'll have to hunt down 1 more. My gravel is fine enough for an eel to burrow in.

SO EXCITED!!!!!

ye dude but the firemouths at MOrley get sold every dya and they probably got a new shipment in alredy.

if one is bigger than another will it make the others miserable? Also i have been told to put some "target fish" in the tank when they spawn. Is this right? It sounds stupid and cruel.

P.S My firemouth is awsome  but also very scared of me. Is this normal?

well it is normal cuz once a someone sees ur face they'll try and find the best hiding spot possible :p
