Breeding Dwarf Puffers

Also do you need java moss to breed DPs?

Is it difficult to breed DPs?

Spawning -- not difficult (my DPs lay a few eggs here and there almost daily during the breeding months)

Raising the fry -- difficult (to me it's difficult anyway :look: ) Need micro live food and fry of different ages/sizes can't be put in same space.

Not necessary for spawning at all. However, it is beneficial for fry to hide in and feel safe. Micro food like infusoria in the moss will provide food for the newly hatched fry.

You'll have to seperate the larger fry from the smaller fry as the larger ones would kill them so you'll end up setting up many holding tanks for each batch.

Room & space is precisely my problem like I pointed out -- "different ages/sizes can't be put in same space"

Also, they don't all take up microworms that I feed them with and many die in the 2nd to 3rd week. Can't spend too much time on breeding all sorts of live feed :/

just curious, what are the breeding months of DPs?

TBH I don't know if there is such a thing but my DPs seem to do it from May/June onwards up till about October. I've only had my original DPs for about 19 months. Now 2 of my 3 surviving fry from last summer are courting too
