i've been tryin 2 breed my 2 cichlids for ages but they wont breed. ive got 2 plant pots and an up turned coconut shell. does anyone have any suggestion on how to get them to breed?

Have you got a boy & girl borelli? Females are yellowish and have short rounded fins. Males get bigger and have more colour and long pointed fins.
Feed them 3 times a day on frozen prawn & fish, or live food like mozzie larvae and daphnia.
Do daily partial water changes for a couple of weeks and if that doesn't help stop doing them for a week, then do a 50% water change.
Keep the temperature around 26-28C
Have lots of plants in the tank and maybe add some small peaceful fish to act as dither fish. They don't normally need dither fish but if they are shy and hide a lot. Then a small group of peaceful tetras or rasboras can help encourage them to spend more time out and about.

If the fish are comfortable and well fed they will breed.

How hard is your water?

There could be a couple reasons why they arent. Find out your water chemistry and if you can put some pics up of the two.

thanks for the advice. i can see eggs in the 'cave' i know that they may eat the first set of eggs but if they dont should i just leave the care of the fry to the mother or should i take the babies out?

as i found out, if you remove the eggs into a fry tank and feed them well 80% of them will survive, but if you leave them with the parents theres always a chance they will eat them, or even rear them until they want to breed again and chase them away or kill them leaving just a few scared individuals.
your fish may very well raise them perfectly fine, its completely upto the owner wether you remove them and care for urself
