Breeding Bn Plecs

i have a female bn in a 2 metre/500L community tank, its full of plants and bogwood. on tuesday i shall be receiving a male bn and am hoping to start breeding them.

so a few questions.

do i need another female or is one ok?
do they need a slate cave or is a cave made from bogwood/ceramic/something else ok?
will they get terratorial? (there are common plecs in the tank too)
what signs do i look out for that they are ready to breed?

they usually breed in caves or tubes. PVC pipe is commonly used with good success. Use a piece about 2inches in diamtere and about 6 inches long. Push one end into the gravel. If you don't have PVC pipe then just make up a cave out of whatever you have.

males are territorial when breeding but only have small territories around the nest site. There won't be any problems in your tank.

male will hid ein his cave a lot and not come out for food. if you look in the cave with a torch then you might see eggs stuck to the surface or sides of the cave.

you want to add another female just due to the size of tank 2 metres is a big tank and they mite just not pass each other enough for them both to get interested another female may help solve that problem

you may want to raise the temp abit im asuming you keep it below 28 push it up to that or keep it at 28 'C cause most fish get excuse the language ' more horny' when its hot lol

that doesnt mean push it up to 30 just leave it at 28
