I have a pair of breeding BN plecs that i added to my tank a few weeks ago, they have both settled in nicely and seem very happy. They are feeding well and the male has claimed his teritory in one of the slate caves, hes always sat at the entrance to the cave or in side fanning to clean any gravel out thats gone in there.

My question is is it normal for the male to scare off the female when she tries to enter his cave? On several occasions now he has been sat at the entrance to the cave and the female has tried to enter and he flares up and scares her off ????

i think its every 6 weeks or so they can produce (please correct me if i am wrong ???? ) is this time period due to the female not being able to lay for that time period or the male not being able to fertalize them? Just curious

ive had spawns every 3 weeks of mine

as all ready said he wont let her in till he is ready

Cheers Dane

Thanks :)

hopefully he will decide to let her in sometime soon then

As already mentioned, the male will only mate when he's ready!
Don't worry about him chasing the female, it's perfectly normal. :good:
