Ok well i have 2 bettas...1 male and 1 female. And i am really really wanting to breed them but i want the correct conditions and i need to know everything that i need inorder to breed them. So if i could get some advice and tips that would be great!!!!! THanks!!!!!! :good:

Hi. Have a look at the FAQ,s pinned at the top of the page. Its the best info you can get on breeding it helped me, plus if you are unsure on any thing its says just aske every one will be happy to help. What type of Betta are you breeding?

do you have space for 100+ males at one time? the space and time to rear the delicate fry? food cultures for fry? food to condition the pair? a good quality pair? (not VT too many already homeless) the list goes on, but i'll stop now

yes i do and if they spawn and the fry survive i have places for them all to go. Also....how do you tell if your male and female are a good pair???? and how big will the female get?????

I am just asking these questions in preparation to spawn them. I want to know everythine that i can before i attempt it.

And bettas are just the normal kind. I will try to post some pics soon but i am really busy today so maybe tomorrow. But soon for sure.

make a list of what you have and someone will come along tell you what else you need, also how many homes do you have lined up?

well see thats the thing...i need to know WHAT i need. Well of course i have the tank, the heater, and all of that stuff but like is their certain things that i will need for them to spawn????

Also i have a pet store (that i work at) lined up so they will take as many as they can and i have nemerous aunts and uncles and cousins that would gladly take them. So i think that i am set for the giving them away part.
lol

P.S.
I will try to have some photos up of my bettas by tomorrow!!!
Thanks for all of the help so far.

I'd highly recommend NOT breeding any betta any time soon. You need to research research research as much as you possibly can and then MAYBE try it.
If bettas were like every other fish, then it wouldn't be so bad, but b/c the male fry MUST be seperated as soon as you can tell them apart, it requires so much more work and alot of commitment.
Are you prepared to house all of the potential fry you might get in seperate containers that you have to do water changes in every day?

Sure first timers usually don't end up with many fry, but you never know. You could end up with 100+.

Research research and then research some more. Knowledge is power and all that mess :p hehe
GL with whatever you decide to do though!

I highly doubt betta that are being bred by a beginner will even have more than 30 surviving fry, but i guess theres always a chance  If you want to have a go at it, just try it out after reading up all the guides in the faq section. Have at least 50 jars ready. I doubt you will end up with that many in the end anyways, but its always better to be safe than sorry. The first time i bred betta, i ended up with no fry because the male ate all the eggs instead of putting them in the nest  It happened in round 2 too. Just read up on the guides and you will find all your answers, you will be better prepared if you have to look for the answers yourself instead of us feeding you the answers because you might learn something that you wouldnt expect.

There is some good information in the FAQs here. If you want to know my personal betta breeding experiences, you can check out my website (link is in my sig), although I need to update it because I have another spawn that I haven't put in my breeding logs yet.

ok thanks for everything....and i do have a place for all of them and i have been collecting jars for when the day comes and i want to breed them.

So i am going to have a look at that webpage.......and i will try to put some pics. of my 2 bettas up here today.
