So, I am planning to breed bettas for sale. I have a lovely male betta called Disco(11 weeks old). He is in my profile pic. I'm currently looking at this video.
So I am breeding bettas for sale since they are quite expensive to buy and are high in demand.

I think you need to slow down.

Respectfully, I really do think that you are running before you can walk. Breeding fish is an art that requires years of experience, especially when it comes to the highly aggressive types like Betta

I understand that you might be excited to go onto the next level of fishkeeping but it would be better for you and the fish if you gained more experience in the basics of fishkeeping before embarking on the more complex, financially & emotionally harsher side

When you have a few years (5+ years) successful fishkeeping under your belt and have more expertise and confidence...then maybe look at breeding for monetary gain. But right now, and in light of your confusion over the gender of Disco, I truly believe you need to wait a few years, get your experience, keep learning new aspects of the pastime and just enjoy being with the fish that you have. The last thing you or anyone would want is for you to rush into things that you don't really understand fully and don't have the time for (bearing in mind the question posted about cutting down on the time taken by reducing water changes etc) and for it all to go horribly wrong.

You don't seem to be listening to the advice being given...you've just watched one video on YouTube and deemed yourself an expert. As mentioned above you already struggle with time to do water changes and maintenance, where are you going to find time (if your breeding attempt is successful) to maintain and water change who knows how many individual jars? It's a full time job almost.

You didn't know the difference between a male and a female yesterday....you're still so inexperienced. Please listen and research your species, observe, learn and study them. When you feel you've got nothing left to learn then consider breeding them

I know you will have a plan to deal with the fry. I am just interested in where you are going to put around 100 male Bettas
Yep, good point on the stable of males....

Having just one or two males will inevitably weaken the bloodline over time which in turn will decrease the health & welfare of each generation of offspring thereafter

Put it this way, each time you place Disco with a female, his genetic bloodline and thus his ability to pass on his strong defence against illness and disease will reduce and that will lead to shorter lifespan of those offspring by virtue of a weakened, washed out bloodline

You would need a huge stable of different male and female Betta, ensure that no sibling breeding occurred and ensure that no one fish was overbred. Only using one or two males with a stable of females you would, quite frankly, knacker the males and weaken their genetics...especially when trying for specific colourways and fin types.

Are you also prepared to deal with the inevitable deaths, potentially your beloved Disco, should a female take exception to his advances? A female will kill if she is not happy with the male placed with her.

Betta breeding is definitely not a beginner breeding species by any means.

Ok yep I won't do betta breeding. I'll just sell plants and other things that are unnecessary.
Yep....take your time, as much as I admire your enthuasiasm I really think you have to be realistic about your abilities regarding breeding any fish for financial gain

You have many years ahead of you to research and plan things properly and gain far more insight and knowledge.....its not worth the heartache to rush into things and then fall at the first hurdle and have everything go bad for you.
