i was reading that they are asexual and can change sexes to reproduce but i also read that they may fight with each other i dont know much about them but would like any info. I have 2 different kinds of anemones in my tank now. and want to get another one for my my clown fish.

They can bud, which is a form of asexual reproduction. A tiny anemone gows off of the parent. Or some can regenerate, were you can break them up and all of the peices form a new anemone. Kind of like an earth worm.

Hi ron I'm not sure about the anenomes, but I have to comment on the earthworm. Sadly if you cut one in two one or both parts will die. For it to live it needs to have the head and over half of the body, counted by the segments, the end with just the tail will squirm about for a while but ca not live :(

strange things, anenomes are. I thought they were plants the first time i saw them, until i talked to the person in charge of the lfs. I saw someone was buying one, the the anenome was flapping furoiusly in the bag!

I was just reading what my biology textbook said. I don't know if right or not...

Well from a biology textbook I would have thought they would have got it right, but sadly they didn't :/ :/

Yes, it has a bit of an old publishing date...1973.
That might have something to do with it.

Anemonies reproduce by splitting to form two new ones.

This seems to be brought about by systematic feeding and then an abrupt change in water conditions.

The starfish is the marine organism that will reproduce from all parts severed from the whole.

Hunreds of years ago in a European sea,(can't remember which one), fisherman were constantly annoyed by the presence of starfish in their nets. They would cut them into pieces and throw them back in the water. Well, a few years later, they had an infestation of starfish.
