Hi so as some of you will know I have three bn
I am wanting to breed them I have 1 male with a female in a 250L tank and was woundering how to breed them and how do you know when they have paired?

My male is about 3.5-4" long and my female is about 3" long if this helps

Also is there any way to get them in the mood?

to get them in the "mood" a cold water change usually helps with some vegetables for a few days like courgette :)

I just don't know what they look like when paired they where both around a terracotta cat cave the other day both having a look but nothing has come to it could they be paired?

BN don't pair off, the male just takes up residence in a suitable spot and waits for a female to come along. When she's loaded with eggs and ready to spawn she'll drop them and go on her way, leaving the male to tend them.

The only times I've ever realised that mine have bred have been when the male suddenly vanishes. If he stops coming out for food I know he's either a) died or b) is hiding with eggs somewhere. He's in a community tank with three ladies and although I'm pretty sure he's looking after the biggest girl's eggs at the mo, I doubt he'd kick any of the other girls out of the bed ;)

I've not noticed any specific pairing going on.
