hello everyone. I am new to the marine section, but I do tend to hang around the African cichlid section. I am very keen on my malawis and have a number of various sized tanks, full and empty. for many years now I have contemplated setting up a marine tank but have found it to be quite a complex hobbie. I have recently become friendly with my LFS who has kept marines for 12 months and he is trying to talk me into setting up a marine tank. I have a few empty tanks, but the one I would like to use is 43x26x26. I realise that this may be on the high side, and it would cost me more for the lights, but I would rather start off large rather than do what I did with my malawis, started small and then wished I had gone bigger.
I know what I want, as in what I would like it to look like! but I want to take my time and achieve the best effect. I would like to use some large ocean rock that I already have, I would like some inverts and also some fish, plenty of colour and charachter. my mate told me that as far as equipment goes, I only need the same as what I have on my malawi tank, a heater, and a filter and lights?. I wont be starting this tank emediatly but I would like to get the jist of things in advance. any info (in simple to understand terms) would be very much appreciated as I believe I have already held back for far too long. THANK YOU.
