Breading Cichlids

Hey, all I have some cichlids and I just wanted to know how old do they get before they start breading as I have a few in my tank that are all different sizes so not quite sure, as I am new to the cichlid world.

Thats a little small for that many mbuna.

They are fry there is only 1 large one in the tank and I am getting a larger tank in the next 2 weeks waiting for it to be delivered

Ah, I thought they were mature. Hard to see in the pictures. I've never done any cichlid breeding besides dwarf species @Wills or @itiwhetu might be able to help

My eye is drawn to the two yellows above the ship in picture one. I would say they look like a pair. When setting up a tank for breeding or keeping make sure that there areas for each fish that is easy to defend. I have attached a photo of a new african cichlid tank that I have just set up to give you some ideas. This type of layout will help to sort out pairs.

Thank you I need to know what size tank do you recommend I get at the moment I about 25-30 they are not mature yet but growing fast as I want to order tomorrow??

As a rule of thumb one fish inch per 5 liters of water. 20 fish at 4 inches each 80 x 5 = 400 liter tank
You will maybe loose a few, and with good filtration you should be OK at that.
