Hi, will my tropical fish eat bread?

I know when i go fishing for cold water fish, they apsolutly love bread... Will tropical be the same?

And no im not fishing for them LOL.

I am in no way an expert on fish nutrition, but I would hazard that bread does not contain the right balance for any fish (cold or tropical). It is unlikely to contain enough protein, minerals and vitamins in the right quantities, and this may be compacted by the fact that bread swells when wet, so fish would be physically "full" before they are nutritionally satisfied. Just my guess though. I am also unsure about the potential effects of any wheat/yeast products, it might be worth a little more indepth research...

Wild fish may love it, but then fish will tend to have a go at anything marginally edible if it is easy lol!

They would probably eat it, but it is a definite no-no to feed it to them. It is not good for their digestive systems at all.

My lfs (they sell large outdoor fish as well as tropical) has told me that Koi love BROWN bread with marmite on it (no butter). It must be BROWN not WHITE bread (and I have not actually tried this with my Koi yet). But I have never heard of anyone feeding bread to tropical fish. -_-

When diving abroad once, there were some large wrasse that loved boiled eggs and locally they quickly became known for it and dive leaders started taking them down as it was a guaranteed way of getting to hand feed a fish so divers used to dive with them.

However the numbers of fish started decresing noticably and they eventually found a big one dead at the surface, so decided to take it back and they cut it open and it was full of boiled eggs!

As my diving instructor said, feeding fish is OK so long as it's something they should eat, at the very least a natural product, when did you last see a fish boil an egg? By the same rule I've never seen an underwater bakery, so I wouldn't feed bread to my fish.
