just setting my tank up, attached all piping, everything filled with water, started to prime into the filter and the prime button stuck in a down position, been on tetratec website who have said the powerhead needs replacing, grrrrrrrrrrrr, massive pain and the bottom!!!

has anyone else encountered this?

i bought it off ebay (shop seller massive feedback) but it looks like its going to land with tetratec, does anyone have a number for customer services?

it looks like it could be a manufactured fault as i put problem on website, said under warranty and the answer is new powerhead needed :(

absolutely gutted but if anyone can answer anything above i'd appreciate it.

i am based in england, uk

Forum search tool with give you the number, they are based in Germany and will send you out the head unit. They are easy to get going with the button stuck down, just fill it right up with water and fire it up. I've got one that has a stuck button, i need to get it replaced, its actually one that i was sent out due to the first one failing. Its a daft design fault, but fair play to them replacing it no questions asked. 3 year warranty too!

Don't bother contacting the eBay seller, more hastle than its worth. Tetratec direct will sort it.

i cant see the number :( can you please help me Tizer

details here.

Takes about a week to arrive. Worth filling up the filter and getting it going, its ever so easy.

Also very good chance of the new filter head doing exactly the same when it arrives :) Once there is water in the intake tube, the siphon effect should fill it up and it should fire up perfectly.

PS, dont throw away the old head when the new one arrives, the impeller inside it and the rubber seal are worth keeping, they would be £20+ in spare parts.

Tizer, absolutely brilliant, i really appreciate this mate, thank you soo much. its not broke and its filtering, i put my hand by the spray bar and its boshing away, just the button stuck down, so i'll keep hold of it, thanks soo much and i'll let you know what they say!

It is an 00800 number so ring from a land line if you can.

hi Tizer, sorted mate, wow they are trusting tho i am honest! i said primer button stuck, received friday, she said delivery on new powerhead in the next few days. you can't beat that for customer serivce, i asked does she want the other back and she replied no, keep it, it is fine!

i will keep hold of this, as i say its filtering but i don't think at full power as the button is stuck down!? could be wrong tho.

i have it attached to my hydor external 300w heater and the tank this morning is lovely and warm :)

It will be working at full power, its only a primer button to start off the siphon effect to fill it, bit like sucking on a hosepipe to drain the water out the tank, nowt more. That's why when its full up it can pump water out and self prime itself.

If you do it again when the filter is cycled, make sure you fill it with tank water, not fresh tap water, or you might kill your bacteria.

Tizer, I really cannot thank you enought for all your help and advice on this matter. Very much appreciated my friend.

A screwdriver and a smidging of WD40 sorted mine out.

Also, don't just bin the motorhead, keep it as a spare as they come with a new O-Ring and a new Impeller and Shaft.

hi minnt, i'll wait till my new one arrive, then try this. it has a 3 year warranty on it, however it is working at the moment but the button is stuck down, my concern is my new ones goes boom in a worse way then i have no filter and in next few months my tank be fully stocked and i lose fish! so maybe best keeping the one i have at the moment and then in case sumfin happens stick this back on
