What part of the coral can you touch. I know there not allowed to be exposed to air is it the bottom of the coral.

A little species lesson here. :)

I believe you mean trachphyllia. This type of coral used to have another genus, Wesophyllia. Being much alike and often confused, the genus Wesophyllia was eliminated and now they are known as trachphyllia T Geoffroyi and T Radiata.

I have a T Radiata and it has turned out to be one of my best purchases. It is beautiful and its care level is not as extreme as I was first led to believe. I have never taken care to not expose mine to the air when I have had to transfer it for one reason or another. Nor have I ever heard of it needing to be done. But if you have, better safe than sorry.

I always handle mine by the base. Yes, he does get offended when you touch his fleshy parts, but quicly regains composure.

I feed mine late in the evening by making sure I get a good spray of my blended homemade food in his direction. I have mine in a steady, but not strong current on the bottom.

GL

PS. They will mooch around a bit as they fill and deflate themselves. So don't be too surprised when you find he moves around a bit.
