Ok, I would really like to start up a small brackish tank to house a puffer and / or a couple of bumble bee gobies.

After much internet research and a lot of conflicting advice from different sites can anyone tell me anything and everything they know about setting up and keeping a brackish tank??

I want to get this right!

Also if I get the puffer from a freshwater environment, how do I acclimate him to brackish water and how long will it take? I am keeping the tank freshwater for now just in case.

It is heating and filtering the water through wool and carbon, I have the filter sponge in an established tank to build up a bacteria colony.

The substrate is coral sand, the tank is as yet unplanted and unfurnished but will be done to any specific requirements.

The tank is 7.5 us gallons, which I understand is small, but I would really like to give this a go...

Here is the answer to all your questions, the complete guide to starting a brackish aquarium http://fish.orbust.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=42435. I currently have two brackish tanks, a small 10g with a 2" green spotted puffer and 6 bumblee gobies and a 55g with larger more aggressive brackish fish, if you have anymore questions after reading the artical feel free to ask away.
